9-12 - FINAL

So it's been a while since I updated, and all I can say is that my timekeeping is absolutely horrible and I've been ridiculously distracted with my personal life so much that I completely forgot to update this blog.

A lot has happened in regards to the project, and it's safe to say the diner... looks like a diner. The booths are in, the props are done, and everything is in place. I even have trees, foliage, and other random scatter assets in now! all that's left to do is to add in lighting and volumetric fog to block off the edges of the piece.

It's not been without it's own issues, of course. I've had plenty of bumps along the way. In fact at one point I considered throwing in the towel, and there's a very teary phone call recording to my best friend somewhere in the cloud that I'm sure an O2 employee uses to cheer themself up.

However, I have made very good use of the tools given to us by university. I used Marvelous Designer to create the booths, bringing them into Maya to retopologise, and then using Nanite within Unreal Engine to bring them in without hindering the framerate or system at any time. I utilised MASH to create chains for any fences which I also used Nanite on, and on the Fire Hydrant.

Also worth noting is that I learned how to use Speed Tree to a very minimal extent -- as the trees and foliage in my scene are quite simply there for silhouette and to create the Light Shafts / God Rays on the scene.

After I got the trees etc it was time for the final touches -- a few random assets, a few sourced assets, and then finally a shader for fog to block off the edges of my scene, and fixing my lighting.

Once that was done, I was good to go and got everything rendered out into a pretty scene.

I realise this wasn't a very *good* development blog. This semester has been a nightmare. Howevrr I am extremely happy with the work I've produced, especially given these troubles. It's been a labour of love, and I believe I have got something I can 100% be proud to display at both Expotees and on my Portfolio.
